PSX Closing Bell: Bad Moon Rising

August 27, 2021 (MLN): The Benchmark KSe-100 index slipped 227 points on Friday to close at 47,136 level due to lack of positive triggers amid ongoing roll-over week.

Despite positive earnings announced by FATIMA, INIL, INDU and BOP, investors remained bearish.

The Index traded in a range of 521.16 points or 1.10 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 47,392.24 and a low of 46,871.08.

Of the 95 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 26 closed up 66 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 181.76 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Fertilizer with 37 points, Textile Composite with 30 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 24 points, Commercial Banks with 23 points and Engineering with 20 points.

The most points taken off the index was by ENGRO which stripped the index of 30 points followed by HBL with 28 points, INIL with 21 points, SRVI with 16 points and OGDC with 15 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Technology & Communication with 12 points, Cement with 8 points, Real Estate Investment Trust with 7 points, Tobacco with 6 points and Automobile Parts & Accessories with 2 points.

The most points added to the index was by MEBL which contributed 61 points followed by SYS with 27 points, LUCK with 12 points, DCR with 7 points and PAKT with 6 points.

All Share Volume increased by 21.56 Million to 382.37 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.34.72 Billion.

Total companies traded were 469 compared to 483 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 128 closed up, 324 closed down while 17 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 5,153 to 131,109.

Value Traded increased by 1.55 Billion to Rs.13.30 Billion
