Aug 02, 2021 (MLN): The local bourse opened on a positive note today owing to the positive economic triggers i.e, export volume has reached to $2.35billion, depicting a growth of 17% YoY during July'21 and high tax collection by FBR of Rs143bn during the same month.

In addition, the PBS has also announced the inflation numbers today for the month of July’21 which clocked in at 8.4% as compared to 9.4% in June’21.

Resultantly, investors’ sentiments remained upbeat, throughout the day, despite strict lockdown in the city which added 397.96 points to the benchmark KSE100 index to close at 47,453.25.

The Index traded in a range of 456.93 points or 0.97 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 47,508.74 and a low of 47,051.81.

Of the 99 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 70 closed up 27 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 89.31 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Commercial Banks with 62 points, Technology & Communication with 58 points, Chemical with 48 points, Textile Composite with 47 points and Power Generation & Distribution with 31 points.

The most points added to the index was by TRG which contributed 32 points followed by EPCL with 29 points, MCB with 27 points, HUBC with 25 points and SYS with 25 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 12 points, Insurance with 4 points, Sugar & Allied Industries with 3 points, Real Estate Investment Trust with 3 points and Paper & Board with 2 points.

The most points taken off the index was by DAWH which stripped the index of 10 points followed by LUCK with 7 points, POL with 5 points, AGP with 5 points and BAFL with 4 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 146.75 Million to 252.35 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.65.73 Billion.

Total companies traded were 486 compared to 407 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 352 closed up, 118 closed down while 16 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 38,435 to 100,953.
