PSX Close: KSE100 Index Loses 38 Points

September 22, 2022 (MLN): Amid lack of fresh triggers, market witnessed range bound activity throughout the day today, leading the benchmark KSE100 index to close at 40,928 level, down by 38 points or 0.1% DoD.

The market followed the international sentiment as international indices fell amid notable rate increase of 75bps by FED to counter global inflation, analyst at Pearl Securities said.

However, recovery was seen in the second half of the session as IHC has decided not to indict Ex-Prime Minister in the contempt of court case against him, thus easing pressure on the local political front.

Additionally, flood related damages are now reflecting in the depressed economic figures which are dragging the overall sentiment of the bourse.

The Index traded in a range of 567.20 points or 1.38 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 40,986.17 and a low of 40,418.97.

Of the 95 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 32 closed up 62 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 104.06 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Commercial Banks with 19 points, Automobile Assembler with 16 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 11 points, Pharmaceuticals with 11 points and Power Generation & Distribution with 11 points.

The most points taken off the index was by POL which stripped the index of 17 points followed by HUBC with 16 points, FFC with 14 points, MTL with 14 points and HMB with 11 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Technology & Communication with 79 points, Cement with 11 points, Synthetic & Rayon with 4 points, Automobile Parts & Accessories with 3 points and Cable & Electrical Goods with 2 points.

The most points added to the index was by TRG which contributed 63 points followed by OGDC with 21 points, SYS with 17 points, LUCK with 14 points and ENGRO with 10 points.

All Share Volume increased by 19.68 Million to 190.09 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.5.97 Billion.

Total companies traded were 328 compared to 319 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 106 closed up, 203 closed down while 19 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 12,681 to 95,476.

Value Traded increased by 1.49 Billion to Rs.6.32 Billion
