August 17, 2022 (MLN): The capital market witnessed a range-bound session on Wednesday amid a lack of positive triggers. However, in the late hours of the trading session, investors opted for value hunting across the board as the benchmark KSE-100 gained 240 points to settle at 43,676.56.
The market closed in green amid improved expectations that Pakistan will win bailout from IMF, cited Aba Ali Habib in a closing note.
The Index traded in a range of 349.99 points or 0.81 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 43,734.33 and a low of 43,384.34.
Of the 96 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 46 closed up 45 closed down, while 5 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 345.76 million shares.
Sectors propping up the index were Technology & Communication with 116 points, Cement with 96 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 38 points, Engineering with 16 points and Fertilizer with 14 points.
The most points added to the index was by SYS which contributed 91 points followed by LUCK with 53 points, KEL with 30 points, MEBL with 18 points and LOTCHEM with 15 points.
Sector wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 32 points, Automobile Assembler with 17 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 8 points, Pharmaceuticals with 6 points and Glass & Ceramics with 4 points.
The most points taken off the index was by NBP which stripped the index of 32 points followed by POL with 15 points, OGDC with 12 points, MCB with 10 points and HBL with 10 points.
All Share Volume increased by 89.95 Million to 608.00 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.15.22 Billion.
Total companies traded were 356 compared to 360 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 153 closed up, 171 closed down while 32 remained unchanged.
Total trades decreased by 44,578 to 153,663.
