Production of vegetable ghee witnesses a growth of 2.11% during FY-18

Domestic production of vegetable ghee during FY-18, grew by 2.11 percent as compared to the production during FY-17, as during the period under review, about 1.3 million tons of ghee was manufactured to fulfill the domestic requirements as well as for exporting.

The vegetable ghee production was recorded at 1.28 million tons during the previous financial year, according to the data of Large Scale Manufacturing Industries, released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

The ghee production was recorded at 107.7 thousand tons during the month of June, 2018 as compared to the production of 108.8 thousand tons during the same month of last year, it added.

Meanwhile, 389.9 million tons of cooking oil was domestically produced during FY-18, the same quantity as the previous year.

 On the other hand, 29,907 tons of cooking oil was manufactured locally in month of June, 2018 as compared to the production of 33,848 tons during the same month of last year, the data added.

Apart from this, domestic production of blended tea grew by 1.17 percent during FY-18 as it was recorded at 150.8 thousand tons as compared to the production of 149 thousand tons during the same period of last year.

Production of blended tea decreased by 15.65 percent in June this year as compared the same month of last year.

During the month of June 2018, 9,963 tons of blended tea was produced as compared to 11,811 tons of blended tea produced during the same month of last year.

During July-June, 2017-18, wheat and grain milling increased by 1.03 percent.

The  overall  output  of  LSMI  increased  by 5.38 percent for  July-June,  2017-18  compared  to  July-June, 2016-17.

The production of food,  beverages  and  tobacco,  coke and petroleum  products,  pharmaceuticals,  non-metallic mineral products, automobiles, iron and steel products during Jul-June 2017-18 increased significantly as compared to Jul-June 2016-17.
