PM to deliberate on gas pricing, staggering SSGCL losses in ECC meeting today

Prime Minister is expected to chair an Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) meeting today to give approval on multiple projects mainly in the Maritime Affairs Division and Petroleum Division amongst others.

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Shahid Khaqqan Abbasi is expected to chair an Economic Co-ordination Committee meeting of the cabinet at 11:00 IST in Parliament House, Islamabad.

The committee will contemplate the approval of Necessary Amendments/Exemptions required for the Gwadar Port and Gwadar Free Zone. Amongst other items on the agenda, the committee will also discuss allocation of additional gas production from Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MARI)’s existing reservoirs to PAkArab Fertilizers limited.  

The ECC meeting will also discuss matters pertinent to allocation of site to private LNG developers including Engro-Fatima-Shell and Energas at Port Qasim.

According to reliable sources, the meeting will discuss Natural Gas Pricing as well.

In addition to that, the meeting is expected to take stock of the staggering accumulated losses of Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) owing to the court’s decisions in the matter of Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) determinations.

Furthermore, committe members will deliberate on OGRA’s policy guidelines with respect to treatment of provisional UFG determinations in the light of OGRA’s final UFG study in the revenue requirements of Gas utility companies.

Termination of contract of affreightment (COA) between Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) will also be reviewed.
