October 05, 2018 (MLN): Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved the constitution of a 22-member Council of Business Leaders (CBL), to ensure the availability of best professional advice and quick implementation of decisions, particularly those concerned with increasing exports and doping out the current account deficit.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will chair the CBL, whereas Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood will be the President.
The Commerce Division will work as secretariat for the CBL, whereas Secretary Commerce will act as Secretary to the Committee of the “Council of Business Leaders.
According to a notification issued by Commerce division, the Council of Business Leaders will ensure that Pakistan’s business leaders, as representatives of the nation’s business community, have access to a structured forum to provide feedback on the government’s business, economic, investment, tariff and taxation policies.
It will also ensure that policy makers benefit from a diverse set of opinions to assist in the formulation and implementations of the government’s agenda with respect to creating jobs, boosting exports, increasing investments, enhancing the ease of doing business, encouraging the participation of overseas Pakistanis and all other areas of policy where the input of the business community is critical.
