PM approves hike in petrol prices by Rs5.40 per litre

July 15, 2021 (MLN): Contrary to OGRA's recommendations, the Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved a mere increase in the price of petrol by Rs5.40 per liter in the interest of general public, Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan on Political Communication, Shahbaz Gill informed via his Twitter handle.

The new price of petrol will be Rs118.09 while the prices of High-Speed Diesel and Light Diesel have been increased by Rs2.54 and Rs1.27 per liter to Rs116.53 and Rs84.67 per liter respectively.

In addition, the rates of Kerosene Oil have been increased by Rs1.39 per liter and the new price will be Rs87.14.

In a series of Tweets, he stated that OGRA had proposed an increase of Rs 11.40 per liter in view of rising prices of petroleum products in the global market for the past several months.

To note, the new prices will come into effect from midnight, July 16, 2021.
