PKR trades 33 paisa lower against USD

May 19, 2021 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 33 paisa against US Dollar (USD) in today's interbank session as the currency closed the day's trade at PKR 153.22 per USD, against yesterday's closing of PKR 152.89 per USD.

The rupee traded within a very narrow range of 19 paisa per USD, showing an intraday high bid of 153.25 and an intraday Low offer of 153.15.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 153/153.80 per USD.

So far in FY21, the local unit has gained by PKR 14.83 or 9.68% against the greenback while it appreciated by PKR 6.61 or 4.31% in CY21 with MTD (month to date) position showing an increase of 0.15%, as per data gathered by Mettis Global.

Alternatively, the currency gained 5 paisa against the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 217.35 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 217.4 per GBP.

On the other hand, PKR's value weakened by 46 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 187.25 at the interbank today.

On another note, within the money market, the overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 7.70/7.85 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 7.10/7.25 percent.
