PKR trades 15 paisa lower against greenback

July 13, 2021 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) remained under pressure in today’s interbank session and depreciated by 15 paisa against US Dollar (USD) as the currency closed the day's trade at PKR 159.51 per USD, against yesterday's closing of PKR 159.36 per USD.

The rupee traded within a very narrow range of 18 paisa per USD showing an intraday high bid of 159.50 and an intraday Low offer of 159.42.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 159.50/160.30 per USD.

The data gathered by Mettis Global indicated that the home currency has weakened by PKR 1.96 or 1.23% against the greenback so far while it appreciated by PKR 0.33 or 0.21% in CY21 with MTD (month to date) position showing a decrease of 1.23%.

Meanwhile, the currency lost 15 paisa to the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 221.09 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 220.95 per GBP.

On the other hand, PKR's value strengthened by 19 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 189.01 at the interbank today.

On another note, within the money market, the overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 7.10/7.20 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 7.05/7.15 percent.
