May 04, 2020 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 26 paisa against US Dollar (USD) in today's interbank session as the currency closed the day's trade at PKR 159.91 per USD, against last session's closing of PKR 160.18 per USD.
The rupee endured a highly volatile trading session with quotes being recorded in a range of 2.25 rupees per USD showing an intraday high bid of 160.00 and an intraday Low offer of 158.25.
Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 158/159.50 per USD.
Meanwhile, the currency gained 71 paisa against the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 199.03 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 199.74 per GBP.
On the other hand, PKR's value weakened by 75 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 174.93 at the interbank today.
On another note, within the money market, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) conducted an Open Market Operation in which it injected Rs.1.2 trillion for 4 days at 9.02 percent.
The overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 8.95/9.00 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 9.00/9.05 percent.
