PKR rebounds by 62 paisa to 153.88 against USD

April 28, 2021 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) rebounded by 62 paisa to settle at 153.88 against US Dollar (USD) in today’s interbank session. The domestic currency had closed at PKR 154.50 per USD yesterday.

The rupee saw a volatility-free session as a very little movement was recorded trading in a range of 76 paisa per USD, showing an intraday high bid of 154.32 and an intraday Low offer of 153.60.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 154.50/155.50 per USD.

During FY21, the local unit has gained PKR 14.17 or 9.21% while the appreciation has been PKR 5.96 against USD in CY21 with an MTD depreciation of 0.73%, as per data compiled by Mettis Global.

Meanwhile, the currency gained 1.1 rupees against the Pound Sterling as the day’s closing quote stood at PKR 213.51 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 214.57 per GBP.

Similarly, PKR’s value strengthened by 69 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 185.79 at the interbank today.

On another note, within the money market, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) conducted an Open Market Operation in which it mopped up Rs.203.5 billion for 2 days at 6.93 percent.

The overnight repo rate towards the close of the session was 6.75/6.90 percent, whereas the 1-week rate was 7.00/7.05 percent.
