PKR continues to slide, plummets by 60 paisa to 156.79 against USD

June 15, 2021 (MLN): The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) continued its downward slide for the second consecutive day against the US Dollar (USD) as it lost 60 paisa against the greenback in today's interbank session to close the trade at PKR 156.79 per USD.

On Monday, the home unit had closed at PKR 156.19 per USD.

The rupee saw a volatility free session as very little movement was recorded trading in a range of 72 paisa per USD showing an intraday high bid of 156.85 and an intraday Low offer of 156.20.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 156.60/157 per USD.

Meanwhile, the currency lost 83 paisa to the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 220.77 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 219.94 per GBP.

Similarly, PKR's value weakened by 84 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 190.06 at the interbank today.

On another note, within the money market, the overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 7.50/7.70 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 7.05/7.15 percent.
