PKR appreciates by 9 paisa at interbank

April 5, 2019 (MLN): The value of Pakistani Rupee (PKR) appreciated by 9 paisa against US dollar (USD) on Friday, as its closing value in the first session of interbank market today stood at Rs.141.30 as compared to yesterday’s closing of Rs.141.39.

On the other hand the local currency appreciated by PKR 1.2 against Pound Sterling (GBP) as it closed at PKR 184.8 against previous session’s closing of PKR 186.

Moreover, against EUR, the interbank market closed with Rupee quoted at PKR 158.66 which marked an appreciation of 21 paisa.

In the second session of interbank market, PKR appreciated to 141.05/15.

PKR’s appreciation at interbank today can be attributed to Finance Minister’s address at PSX ceremony this morning in which he said that the Rupee is in equilibrium now, and no devaluation of currency is needed.
