Pakitan’s Trade Deficit at USD 20.827 Billion in 9 months of FY21

April 02, 2021 (MLN): Pakistan's trade deficit for 9 months (July-March) FY21 was USD 20.83 billion compared to a deficit of USD 17.35 billion from the corresponding period from FY20.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the trade deficit for the month of March 2021 was recorded at USD 3.271 billion compared to a deficit of USD2.555 billion from February 2021 showing the deficit worsened by 28.02 percent.

Compared to March 2020 deficit of USD 1.498 billion, the trade numbers deteriorated by118.36 percent

Exports increased by 14.17 percent to USD 2.361 billion compared to USD 2.068 billion in February 2021.

Similarly compared to March 2020 exports increased by 30.44 percent.

Imports in March 2021 increased by 21.83 percent, clocking in at USD 5.632 billion compared to USD 4.623 billion in February 2021 while they increased by 70.25 percent when compared to March 2020.

Overall the 9 month exports stood at USD 18.685 billion compared to USD 17.443 from the corresponding period of last year, showing a decrease of 7.12 percent. Similarly Imports during the period increased by 13.57 percent to USD 39.512 billion compared to USD 34.791 from the same period of FY20.
