Pakistan’s Yearly inflation at 5.12 Percent in September

October 1, 2018 (MLN): According to figures released by the PBS, the Yearly Inflation rate in September 2018 was 5.12 percent compared to 5.84 percent in August 2018 and 3.86 percent in September 2017.

As compared to the previous month, i.e. august 2018, the CPI declined by 0.06. Meanwhile, the WPI increased by 1.52% in September, while SPI decreased by 0.06%

CPI of the heaviest weighing group, Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages witnessed a jump of 1.09% over the corresponding period of last year while it dipped by 0.75% as compared to the previous month. Nonperishable food items witnessed a month-on-month decrease of 0.09%, and a year-on-year increase of 3.95%. Moreover, Perishable food items recorded the largest percentage decrease on a month-on-month basis, that of 4.31, and the largest year-on-year decrease of 12.39%.

Education on the other hand observed the largest year-on-year increase of 15.14%.

The July-September average inflation is 5.60 percent compared to 3.39 percent from the corresponding period last year.

Market Expectation of Inflation for September was between 5.42 % and 5.10% with the average estimate of 5.25%

Top few items that increased from previous year include Government University Fee MSC (15.36%), Government Medical College (10.68%), Gas Cylinder (9.24%), Bus fare (7.90%) Government Engineering College fee (6.39%) and IT Tuition Fee (5.32%)
