Pakistan’s weekly SPI jumps up by 0.22 percent

November 2, 2018 (MLN): Weekly Sensitive Price Index (SPI) for the combined group has grown by 0.22% over the prior week (ended October 25, 2018) and by 5.03% over the corresponding week of last year (November 2, 2018).

A recent press release published by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has shown that out of the 53 monitored items, 15 items registered an increase in average price while 8 items recorded a drop. On the other hand, 30 items witnessed no change in their average prices.

SPI for the largest income group (above Rs.35, 000) has recorded a week-on-week increase of 0.54%, and a year-on-year increase of 8.74%, marking the greatest increments amongst all other income groups.

Meanwhile, SPI for the smallest income group (Upto Rs.8,000) has dropped by 0.21% over the week and jumped by 0.17% over the year.
