Pakistan’s Weekly SPI diminishes marginally by 0.14%

October 19, 2018 (MLN): The weekly SPI for the combined group has slipped by a marginal fraction of 0.14% over last week (ended October 11, 2018), but has demonstrated 5.89% increase as compared to the corresponding period of last year (October 19, 2017).

According to the latest data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), out of the 53 monitored items in the index, 15 items recorded a price increase on average, 14 items recorded a price decrease while the average prices of 24 items remained as was.

SPI for the largest income group (above Rs.35000) has recorded 0.08% decline as compared to the index published last week. Meanwhile SPI over the year has increased by the largest margin of 9.33%, amongst all income group.

On the other hand, SPI for the lowest income group (Up to Rs.8000) has reduced by 0.21% from the index published last week, and has increased by 1.41% over the year.
