Pakistan’s Trade Deficit at USD 31.057 Billion in FY21

July 03, 2021 (MLN): Pakistan's trade deficit for FY21 (July-June) was USD 31.06 billion compared to a deficit of USD 23.16 billion from the corresponding period from FY20.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the trade deficit for the month of June 2021 was recorded at USD 3.594 billion compared to a deficit of USD3.637 billion from May 2021 showing an improvement of 1.18 percent.

Compared to June 2020 deficit of USD 2.104 billion, the trade numbers deteriorated by70.82 percent

Exports increased by 61.1 percent to USD 2.692 billion compared to USD 1.671 billion in May 2021.

Similarly compared to June 2020 exports increased by 68.36 percent

Imports in June 2021 increased by 18.43 percent, clocking in at USD 6.286 billion compared to USD 5.308 billion in May 2021 while imports increased by 69.75 percent when compared to June 2020.

Overall the 12 month exports stood at USD 25.268 billion compared to USD 21.394 from the corresponding period of last year, showing a decrease of 18.11 percent. Similarly Imports during the period increased by 26.42 percent to USD 56.325 billion compared to USD 44.553 from the same period of FY20.
