Pakistan’s Trade Deficit at USD 23.825 Billion in 10 months of FY21

May 05, 2021 (MLN): Pakistan's trade deficit for 10 months (July-April) FY21 was USD 23.83 billion compared to a deficit of USD 19.59 billion from the corresponding period from FY20.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the trade deficit for the month of April 2021 was recorded at USD 2.994 billion compared to a deficit of USD3.295 billion from March 2021 showing an improvement of 9.14 percent.

Compared to April 2020 deficit of USD 2.247 billion, the trade numbers deteriorated by33.24 percent

Exports decreased by 7.23 percent to USD 2.194 billion compared to USD 2.365 billion in March 2021.

Imports in April 2021 decreased by 8.34 percent, clocking in at USD 5.188 billion compared to USD 5.66 billion in March 2021.

Overall the 10 month exports stood at USD 20.881 billion compared to USD 18.399 from the corresponding period of last year, showing a decrease of 13.49 percent. Similarly Imports during the period increased by 17.67 percent to USD 44.706 billion compared to USD 37.992 from the same period of FY20.
