Pakistan’s fiscal deficit widens by 3.8% in 9MFY20

May 6, 2020 (MLN): Pakistan’s fiscal deficit during the nine months of the current fiscal year reached Rs. 1,686 billion, which signifies an increase of 3.8%.

During nine months of the previous fiscal year budget deficit amounted to Rs. 1,922 billion, showing an increase of 5%.

According to the data released by the Finance Ministry, the debt and interest payments from July 2019 to March 2020 amounted to Rs. 1,879 billion, whereas expenditure amounted to Rs. 802 billion.

On the contrary, the debt and interest payments from July 2018 to March 2019 amounted to Rs. 1,459 billion, while defense expenditure amounted to Rs 774 billion.
