Pakistan’s external debt rises to USD 95.097 Billion

According to data released by the state bank of Pakistan, the total external debt of the country stood at USD 95.097 Billion on June 30, 2018 having increased by USD 11.666 Billion or 14% compared to USD 83.431 Billion on June 30, 2017.

Long term debt increased by USD 7.433 billion from USD 55.547 to USD 62.980 Billion, which includes USD 2.5 Billion in Eurobond issue and USD 2.435 Billion in Commercial loans and credits.

According to SBP figures, Public external debt as a percent of GDP increased from 21.7% to 26.6% during the year.

In the last quarter of FY18, the government’s debt increased by USD 2.978 Billion, which includes an increase of USD 1.556 in foreign exchange liabilities.
