August 22, 2022, (MLN): The Minister of State for Finance Dr Aisha Ghaus has stated that Pakistan is not facing any risk of default, Radio Pakistan reported.

During the launching ceremony of a special report titled "Economic Security of Pakistan; Challenges and Way Forward" in Islamabad on Monday, she stated that Pakistan is prepared for the external financing needs for the next year. However, Pakistan has some serious challenges on the economic front.

She appreciated the prudent policies taken by the government, as the rupee has gained strength while imports have declined drastically.

To get out of this boom-bust cycle, she emphasized the importance of structural economic reforms for sustainable economic growth.

Speaking of tax policy, she said it is high time that decision-makers need to think beyond politics and personal interests to increase tax compliance. She said all stakeholders should keep Pakistan first. Stakeholders need to put their consensus on the structural reforms in the economy in order to put Pakistan on sustainable growth.

The Minister of State for Finance said without consistency of economic policies we cannot lead the country on the path of human security. She said in today's world national security cannot be secured without human security.
