Pakistan’s Auto Sales between July – January, FY ’18 increase by 5.9%

According to latest data revealed by the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturers’ Association, Pakistan’s total auto units’ sales during July – January FY ’18 rose by more than 5.90% clocking in at 1,091,530 rising from previous year’s tally of 933,604 units.

Auto sales jumped upward during the month even after almost all local manufacturers raised their selling prices in consequence of the Rupee depreciation during the last month of 2017. Continuing the negative trend, during the period under review Toyota Corolla sales went down by 4.24% as shown in the Table 1. Furthermore, the sales for Honda Cars (Civic & City) rose by more than 14.27% as it sold more than 23000 units during the period under review.

Suzuki’s Cultus, WagonR, Mehran, Bolan all reported a rise of 36%, 83%, 27 and 9% respectively bolstering the auto demand in the country.

In other categories, a total of 5136 units of Trucks and 5,500 units of Buses were sold during the cumulative period of July – January 2017 – 18. LCVs, Vans and Jeeps sales surged as well clocking in at 7762 units sold against 331 units during the previous year. The major chunk of sales came into Honda’s BR-V, locally manufactured Utility Vehicle.

In addition to that, two wheelers and three wheelers segment sales also jumped owing to the much better security conditions of the country. The 2 & 3 Wheeler segment went up by 16.92% during the period as total units sold clocked in at 1,091,530.
