Pakistan to import 1000 MW electricity from Kyrgyz, Tajikistan

Minister of State for Power Abid Sher Ali on Friday informed the National Assembly that government has signed an agreement to import 1000 MW electricity from Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan.

During the question hour, he said, that Pakistan will obtain 1,000MW of electricity via Afghanistan. However the execution of the project has not started yet.

The minister said presently Pakistan is importing 100 MW electricity from Iran.

He said that the government is taking steps to end electricity theft, reduction of losses and improve recovery.

He said that no load shedding is being carried out for feeders with up to 10% losses.

However, he said, scheduled load management is being carried out on feeders where losses are above 10% to safeguard the national exchequer from theft of electricity.
