August 17, 2021 (MLN): The net Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Pakistan was recorded at $89.9 million in the first month of the fiscal year 2021-22 i.e., July’21.
According to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Tuesday, it fell by 30% YoY when compared to the net investment of $128.7mn reported in July’20.
During the said period, the Foreign Private Investment into the country amounted to $88.8mn, out of which, $89.9mn was attributed to Direct Investments, whereas disinvestment of $1.1mn was attributed to Equity Securities i.e., a part of Portfolio Investments.
Within the Direct Investments, there was an inflow of $176.3mn and an outflow of $86.4mn during the month.
Under the Foreign Public Investment, $1.002bn worth of investment was witnessed in debt securities during July’21.
All in all, the Foreign Investments in Pakistan during the month amounted to $1.09bn in July'21 against the net inflows of $2.4mn in July’20.
