Pakistan now stands surplus in gas and power supply: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Thursday said with Pakistan now standing surplus in gas and power supply, the present government had been successful in meeting energy needs of commercial, industrial and domestic consumers. 

The Prime Minister said this during a meeting with Claudio Descalzi, CEO, ENI at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.

According to a press release received here from Davos, Special Assistant to PM Ali Jehangir Siddiqui and senior government officials were also present during the meeting.

The Prime Minister appreciated ENI’s continued presence in Pakistan and its efforts for the socio-economic uplift of local communities.

He welcomed ENI’s pro-active role in bridging the energy demand-supply of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister also acknowledged ENI’s engagements in numerous sustainability projects providing access to water, socio-economic development, education, health and environmental protection.

The CEO ENI thanked the prime minister and expressed ENI’s full support in offering solutions for providing sustained energy supply to Pakistani consumers. 

The ENI is a multinational oil and gas company with operations in 73 countries and ranks among the top 100 on Fortune Global 500 list for largest companies by revenue. ENI is present in Pakistan since 2000 and has three main permits to explore natural gas.
