February 01, 2022 (MLN): People who have received all recommended COVID-19 vaccines, including any booster dose(s) can travel to Pakistan while properly wearing a well-fitted mask in indoor public places, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Monday announced.

However, travelers may still be at risk for getting and spreading infectious diseases, US health officials advised.

A total of 9 destinations – including Pakistan, Benin, China Falkland Islands, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Sierra Leone, Taiwan and Timor-Leste (East Timor) are in the “COVID-19 very low” Level 1 tier on the CDC's travel recommendation list which assesses risk level for coronavirus infection by country.

Meanwhile, it warned against travel to a dozen countries in the “COVID-19 very high” Level 4 tier due to high rates of coronavirus infection, including Mexico, Brazil, Singapore, Ecuador, Kosovo, Philippines and Paraguay. It cautioned travelers to make sure that they are fully vaccinated before traveling to these destinations.

Unvaccinated travelers should still avoid nonessential travel to the Level 3 tier that includes India, Japan, Iran, Malaysia, Oman, Vietnam, Thailand, Brunei, the agency said.

As per the travel notice issued by the CDC, 7 countries namely Bangladesh, New Zealand, Cameroon, El Salvador, Congo, Madeira Islands and Montserrat have been listed in the “COVID-19 moderate” Level 2 tier. However, unvaccinated travelers who are at increased risk for severe illness for Covid-19 should avoid nonessential travel to the said category.
