The objective of establishing the association is to promote the induction of Electric Vehicles and its allied product in Pakistan through joint ventures and local assembling cum progressive manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (Buses, Cars, Vans, Pickups, Auto Rickshaws and Scooters/Motorcycles).

The body would endeavour to safeguard and protect the interest of EV manufacturers at all government and other relevant authorities, professional associates of trade and commerce, besides BOI EDB, FBR etc.

PEVMA also wants to bring other EV assemblers and manufacturer to form a comprehensive body of the EV manufacturers and uphold their rights at all relevant forums. The registration of the association has been applied, for which all required formalities are in place.

The office of the association has temporarily been established at C-127, Block 9, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, for communication and operations purpose.

Moreover, the association plans to launch the inauguration of the EV in Pakistan following government approval of EV Policy 2019.

A ceremony in this regard is planned to be held in Islamabad, by the end of the next week, followed by a press conference where Prime Minister’s Advisor on Climate Change, Amin Aslam Khan has been requested to attend the ceremony as the chief guest.

During the event, features of EVs will be highlighted along with its worldwide phenomena, savings and advantages for the common man in Pakistan.

Under the new EV Policy 2019, all-electric/battery-operated vehicles have been made affordable, in comparison to present Fossil Fuel Vehicles. EVs would help the household to save on account of fuel and maintenance while also enable the government to reduce its dollar bills, which it spends to import oil.

This EV Policy is bound to bring in Transportation Revolution in Pakistan just like many other countries of the world like Norway, which already has achieved 35% electrification of automobiles despite having its own vast oil fields.
