Pakistan, Azerbaijan agree to enhance business, economic ties

June 02, 2022: Pakistan and the Republic Azerbaijan on Wednesday agreed to enhance business and economic relations between both sides.

Both of the counties agreed to enhance cooperation in sectors including; business, banking, IT, tourism, energy, sports, health and transport sectors and decided to hold Joint Working Group meetings on them, said a press release issued.

Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan Khazar Farhadov to Pakistan calls on Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ayaz Sadiq at Ministry of Economic Affairs Islamabad.Ayaz Sadiq welcomed the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov. Matters of mutual interests were discussed in the meeting.

The Minister acknowledged the brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan that established since the independence of Azerbaijan.

He said that trade and cooperation have steadily grown between the two nations but both countries need to work more on it.

The Ambassador acknowledged the same and mentioned the resumption of direct flights between Azerbaijan and Pakistan which will further promote trade and tourism.

Minister appreciated the effort and reiterated the importance of great economic relations between two countries. For which, he proposed to increase trade volume including initiation of import line between both nations that will mutually benefit them.

Minister expressed his desire of greater collaboration in assistance of government-to-government deal in energy sector including; LNG, LPG and gas sector from Azerbaijan that will help mitigating the current oil shortage in the country.

Deputy head of mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Tamerlan Khalilov and Senior officials of the Ministry attended the meeting.
