Pakistan acquires $2.075 billion as foreign economic assistance in 3MFY20

November 5, 2019 (MLN): Pakistan has acquired around $1418.83 million as foreign economic assistance in the first 3 months of FY2020 from multiple bilateral and multilateral sources.

Going by the details provided by Economic Affairs Division (EAD), foreign assistance obtained by multilateral sources during the period totaled $1017.82 million.

ADB emerged as the primary lender within multilateral group, as it disbursed approximately $552.16 million to Pakistan. The second highest source of multilateral financing is IDB (S-term) with an assistance of $303.68 million during the said period.

On the other hand, the collective disbursement from bilateral donors amounted to $401.01 million during the aforementioned period. Within this category, China emerged as the greatest source of assistance during the period, with a loan of $261.75 million. This was followed by UK, as it disbursed loans amounting to $93.94 million.

All in all, Pakistan received nearly $2,075.12 million worth assistance after taking into account loans from multilateral, bilateral as well as Commercial Banks.
