Overseas investors continue to buy securities via SCRA

July 12, 2019 (MLN): The buying activity persisted in another week as the total purchase of securities by overseas investors amounted to Rs. 6 billion during the week ended July 05, 2019, as compared to sale of securities totaling Rs. 5.1 billion.

According to a weekly report on Specially Convertible Rupee Accounts (SCRA) released by the State Bank of Pakistan, the gross sale of securities during the week was around 35.7 percent lower than the figures recorded last week. Similarly, the total purchase of securities was 28.5 percent lower than the prior week.

Consequently, the net purchase of securities for the week ended July 05, 2019 clocked in at Rs. 898.36 million, i.e. around Rs. 431.68 million higher than last week's numbers.

Over the week, the overall purchase of securities declined by Rs. 2.4 billion while the net sale of securities tumbled by Rs. 2.83 billion.

Apart from this, the inflow of remittance into these accounts stood at Rs. 3.04 billion, while its outflow has been reported at Rs. 2.15 billion.

The closing balance of SCRA was recorded at Rs. 27.67 billion, which marks a rise of Rs. 102.45 million over the week.
