Over 10.4 million cotton bales reach ginneries

January 18, 2019: Seed cotton (Phutti) as over 10.4 million bales, reached ginneries across Pakistan till January 15, registering a shortfall by 7.74 percent as compared to corresponding period last year.

According to a report of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) issued here, in Punjab 6.3 million bales reached ginning factories though seven million was the figures last year in corresponding period, and over 4.1 million bales reached ginneries in Sindh which is 2.66 percent less as compared to the previous year. Trading corporation of Pakistan (TCP) had not purchased cotton in 2018-19 season, it was stated.

Till January 15, 2019, over two lakh cotton bales reached ginning factories from Multan, over one lakh from district Lodhran, over five lakh from Khanewal, over three lakh bales from Muzaffargarh, over four lakh from DG Khan, over four lakh from Rajanpur, over two lakh from Layyah, over four lakh from Vehari, over two lakh bales from Sahiwal, nearly one lakh from Mianwali, over 1.1 million from Rahim Yar Khan, over nine lakh from Bahawalpur, over nine lakh from Bahawalnager, over 1.2 million from Sanghar district of Sindh, over one lakh from Mir Pur Khas, over three lakh from Nawab Shah, over three lakh from Noshehro Feroz, over three lakh from Khairpur, over six lakh from Sukkur, over one lakh from Jam Shoro and over two lakh cotton bales reached ginning factories from district Haiderabad.

The report added that over 1.6 million cotton bales were still unsold.
