Outflows by foreign investors continue, further $96.4 million has been withdrawn on Friday

March 24, 2020 (MLN): Foreign Investors continued to exit from Government’s denominated securities particularly T-bills, as it witnessed another outflow of $92.49 million on Friday i.e. March 20, 2020, bringing the total net outflow of foreign currency to arrive at $96.4 million.

While the outflow from equity markets totaled $5.4 million, causing the total outflow of foreign currency to reach $97.9 million.

The exit of foreigners from Pakistan’s government securities and equity markets have continued unabated since last month, as the daily position of SCRA released by SBP shows that foreigners have withdrawn $1.5 billion net so far this month, wherein, the majority of the selling worth $1.42 billion was witnessed in Treasury Bills (T-bills).

Country- wise, the highest withdrawal of $1.27 billion from government securities was observed from UK, followed by US as it detracted $153.9 million so far this month.

Cumulatively, the total foreign inflow in T-Bills from July 2019 to date, has been recorded at $3.43 billion, while the total outflow has been recorded at $1.74 billion.
