April 18, 2019 (MLN): Finance Minister Asad Umar has stepped down from his position at the Ministry of Finance after Prime Minister Imran Khan carried out a cabinet reshuffle and offered him the Ministry of Energy instead.
He has however decided not to take up any position in the cabinet.
In an official announcement on his social media page, he said “As part of a cabinet reshuffle, PM desired that I take the energy minister portfolio instead of Finance. However, I have obtained his consent to not take any cabinet position. I strongly believe Imran Khan is the best hope for Pakistan and inshallah will make a Naya Pakistan”
