Net purchase of securities by overseas investors falls by Rs2bn over the week

May 03, 2021 (MLN): Overseas investors during the week ended April 23, 2021, purchased net securities of Rs.2.07 billion from Pakistan’s debt market, i.e. around Rs.2.03 billion lower than last week's numbers.

According to a weekly report on Specially Convertible Rupee Accounts (SCRA) released by the State Bank of Pakistan, the gross sale of securities during the week was recorded at Rs.4.8 billion, which is around 66 percent lower than the figures recorded last week. Similarly, the total purchase of securities stood at Rs.6.9 billion, which is 62.3 percent lower than the prior week.

Over the week, the overall purchase of securities declined by Rs.11.4 billion while the net sale of securities tumbled by Rs.9.37 billion.

Apart from this, the inflow of remittance into these accounts stood at Rs.3.75 billion, while its outflow has been reported at Rs.2.68 billion.

The closing balance of SCRA was recorded at Rs.29.01 billion, which marks a decline of Rs.433.57 million over the week.
