Net budgetary borrowing in FY-19 at Rs.772.6 bln

January 21, 2019 (MLN): The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has divulged in its weekly report on Monetary Aggregates that in the last six months (July to January 11), the Federal Government’s net borrowing for Budgetary Support has risen to Rs.772.6 billion.

The net borrowing until the week before was Rs.835.7, which means around Rs.63 billion was retired during last week. As compared to the corresponding period of last year, the net borrowing has doubled (from Rs.372 billion).

According to the records, the government borrowed Rs.3.45 trillion from SBP in this period, whereas last year SBP had lent Rs.560.4 billion.

Nevertheless, during the six month period, the federal government retired around Rs.2.7 trillion of Scheduled Banks, as compared to only Rs.188 billion retired last year.
