February 21, 2019 (MLN): The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has decided to increase tariff for all power distribution companies by Rs. 1.8 per unit for the month of January.

The upward revision in tariff is a result of fuel cost adjustment, as previously consumers were getting electricity at lower tariffs while the cost of fuel went up.

Power distribution companies will include the tariff hike in next month’s electricity bills and collect an additional Rs. 13.5 billion from the consumers as a result of this development.

However, this adjustment will not be applicable to the lifeline consumers, who consume up to 50 units a month, and K-Electric consumers.
