June 14, 2022: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Tuesday concluded public hearings into monthly fuel costs for April and quarterly adjustments for the third quarter of K-Electric.

The hearing was presided over by Chairman NEPRA Tauseef H. Farooqi while member Sindh Engineer Rafique Ahmed Sheikh and member Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engineer Maqsoos Answar Khan were also present.

The K-Electric has sought Rs5.30 per unit increase under FCA for April and Rs3.89 per unit under Quarterly Adjustment through a separate petition.

As per the NEPRA calculation, the FCA has calculated Rs5.28 per unit for April while Rs 4.83 per unit was charged by KE from the consumer in March. The FCA for April is Rs 45 paisa per unit more than March.

The Authority will announce its judgment after reviewing the statistic.

Responding to a question of Rafique Sheikh, the KE representative informed that the company was working to add 500 MW solar base projects into the system. In past, solar was expensive as compared to the current situation.
