NA body suggests global connectivity for increasing country’s exports

National Assembly, Sub Standing Committee on Commerce and Textile on Monday proposed to increase the global trade links and connectivity with country’s trade for increasing exports. 

The meeting of National Assembly, Sub Standing Committee on Commerce and Textile convened by MNA, Sajida Begum here in Parliament house to discussed and suggested ways and means for proper implementation of “Trade Organization Act, 2013.

Convener Committee expressed her reservation on working and procedure of Chambers of commerce for regulating them to increase the country’s trade link with international market.

She also proposed three terms for Chairman Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and amendment in “Trade Organization Act, 2013. 

In committee meeting MNA, Zeb Jaffar proposed and suggested the way forward for increasing the country’s trade link to regional and global markets.

In meeting, Convener committee got report from authorities on the performance of trade 58 officers posted in foreign countries for the promoting the country’s trade.

She urged for regulation of 14 women’s chambers and proper execution of “Trade Organization Act, 2013” to stream line the affairs of these Chambers in all over the country.

MNA Tahira Aurangzaib, stressed for promoting cottage industry and highlighted the issues of skilled women in rural areas.

Director General, Directorate General of Trade Organization, Waqar Ahmed Shah briefed the committee on the organizational matter of Chamber of Commerce and trade association in the country.

The senior official of Ministry of Commerce and textile, briefed the committee on Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and negotiation with China, Thailand, Turkey and Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) with Indonesia.

MNA Tahira Aurangzeb, Ms Zeb Jaffar, Dr. Fouzia Hameed and senior official of Ministry of Commerce and Textile attended the meeting.
