November 14, 2018 (MLN): In October 2018, the sales of farm tractors improved by 9% over prior month, and by 5% as compared to October 2017. However, the cumulative sales for the first four months of current fiscal year-2019 declined by 7.7% owing to depressed farm economics and lack of incentives for farmers.

Among all manufacturers of farm tractors, Millat tractor (MTL)’s Massey Ferguson tractors accounted for the highest sales during the month (3.8 thousand units, up by 15% over the year), as well as for the four month period (13.8 thousand units, improved by 4%).

While these figures showed improvements over the year, the sales however dropped by over 5%, when compared to the previous month (4 thousand units sold).

Orient IMT Tractors on the other hand witnessed the least sales during the month (16 units) and the fours month period (131 units). On one hand, the year on year sales remained unchanged, the cumulative numbers have shown a remarkable increment of 142%.

Al-Ghazi Tractors (AGTL)’s Fiat has sold 27% less farm tractors in these four months (6.1 thousand units), when compared to the sales in the corresponding period of last year (8.4 thousand units sold). More specifically, year on year comparison for the month shows a 7% decline in sales. Nonetheless, an improvement in sales is reflected in the substantial increase of 44.8% over the month before.
