Motor vehicle prices climb highest within Transport group: PBS

October 2, 2018 (MLN): Motor fuel prices during September have taken a leap of largest magnitude on a year-on-year basis, in comparison with other items within the Transport group in CPI basket.

With a CPI weightage of 7.2%, the impact of Transport group on CPI has increased by 0.97%, YoY, while the indices for the group increased by 16.8%, revealed the official data from PBS.

The CPI numbers of motor fuel have increased by 24.8%, YoY, while those of transport services have recorded a growth of 15.4%, thus securing the next position in line.

The price increase of motor vehicles during the month, reflects in an 11.4% leap in their CPI indices.

Within the lot, motor fuel has the highest CPI weightage of 3% while transport services follow close behind with 2.7%.
