March 28, 2019: Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan Thursday chaired a meeting to review progress on Social Corporate Responsibility (CSR) activities of Exploration and Production (E&P) companies, being undertaken in oil and gas producing districts.

The oil and gas sector must meet their CSR obligations for development of operational areas and ensuring welfare of the people, residing in the localities of oil and gas producing fields, he said.

The minister said the companies operating in and around Kohat and Hangu districts must provide employment to locals, besides carrying out road-repair and infrastructure development work to mitigate sufferings of the locals, a Petroleum Division press release said.

The minister directed the relevant companies to ensure smooth execution of projects including construction of a 37-kilomter road, water storage facilities and small dams in Hangu.

He hoped that the companies would spend sufficient amount on social and welfare activities in future.

Among others, officials from Oil and Gas Development Company Limited, MOL Pakistan and Mari Petroleum Company Limited also attended the meeting.
