LNG Imports during the month of April, 2018 up by 110.22 Percent

According to the latest data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), total petroleum imports during the month of April clocked in at $1.216 billion; posting a growth of 0.56 percent from March’s imports of $1.209 million with LPG posting a phenomenal increase of 110.22 percent in imports during the period.

Compared to that, year on year growth in the petroleum imports also went up by more than 19 percent during the month of April. The total imports during the month of April 2018 against April 2017 grew by $6.81 million.

Petroleum products imported to Pakistan mainly include Crude, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), petroleum products and other products.

The major chunk of imports under the Petroleum category was mainly in the Petroleum Products which contributed a total of 45.11 percent of the entire imports. Total Petroleum Products imported during the month of April, 2018 clocked in by $548.58 million shrank from $647.649 million same month last year.

SBP data reveals the second major chunk of imports under the Petroleum Products was mainly in the Petroleum Crude category which contributed a total of 32.90 percent of the entire imports. Petroleum crude imported during the month of April, 2018 clocked in at $400.055 million surging from $236.562 million same month last year.

Furthermore, month on month imports in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) went up by 21.69 and 11.35 percent respectively during April, 2018 with a year on year decrease in LPG by 9.14 percent coupled with a year on year massive increase in LNG of 110.22 percent.

Total LPG and LNG imports clocked in at $14.824 million and $252.656 million during the month of April 2018.
