KSE – 100 today reported extended gains after a rather unmoved session yesterday. KSE – 100 has been gaining a positive momentum as it closed the previous week at +2.1%.
Index today crossed the psychological level of 40000 points as it closed the day on 40147, trading in a 634 points range of yesterday’s close. A range of factors have imbued the index with confidence which include the political certainty resulting from an agreement amongst all stakeholders to avoid any delay in Elections scheduled to be held next year.
Furthermore, appointment of Malik Fazl as the new Finance Minister has also yielded a sense of stability among the investors who see this as a step in the right direction for the Government to deal with the economic shortcomings in the final year of their tenure. In addition to that, investors welcomed the appointment of Mr. Miftah Ismail as the Advisor to PM on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs.
Index opened the day on a positive note supported by the Oil Scripts who have garnered much interest amid the rising global crude prices.
Sector-wise all share index turnover was led by Technology & Communication (33.653 million), Commercial Banks (22.509 million), Cement (18.528 million) and with Oil & Gas Marketing Cos. (7.532 million) and Food & Personal Care Products (6.860 million) stocks trailing at the bottom.
KSE-100 Index at the day end moved a total of +620.98 points up by +1.57%, closing in at 40146.73 points with index high-low range of 40160.47 -39525.75.
KSE – All Share Index Volume was at 199.326 million shares, value of shares traded for all-shares index reached PKR 9.333 billion.
The index movement was limited within the 634.72 points range.
73 companies closed up, whereas 17 were down at the day end.
