KSE – 100 gains 45.23 points

KSE – 100 went through a relatively lackluster session today moving up by only 45 points at day end. Activity picked up at around noon, when index went up by 389 points to reach its peak, however as news of ex-PM being presented to court did media rounds, index took a dip and held on close to yesterday levels. Investors have been reluctant to participate amid the rising political instability. Insurance sector remained positive during the day as State Bank of Pakistan allowed Insurance Companies to issue dollar denominated insurance policies in order to meet foreign criteria.

Cement and Tobacco sectors dragged the index down; cumulatively taking away a total of 48.8 points during the session. CHCC -4.17% and PIOC -3.21% were the worst performers cement sector. Commercial Banks followed Tobacco stocks, with BOP closing the day on a negative note closing at -2.06%.

Sector-wise all share index turnover was led by Technology & Communication (16.41 million), Commercial banks (12.70 million), and Textile Composite (10.80 million).

Oil prices continue to make headways as supply side continues to crunch. OPEC led cuts are currently being unofficialy reported to extend beyond March, 2018 as Saudi led cartel (OPEC) eyes to bolster oil prices in the international markets.

KSE-100 Index at the day end moved a total of +45.23 points up by 0.11%, closing at 40498.87 points. Index Volume was 66.96 million shares, value of shares traded was PKR 5.81 billion with index high-low range of 40842.25 – 40353.48.

The index movement was limited within the 488.77 points range.

35 companies closed up, whereas 51 were down at the day end.
