The market today sustained its negative sentiment as it waits on the upcoming verdict on the Avenfield case due to be announced tomorrow.
Benchmark KSE – 100 Index at the day end moved a total of 106.87 points, down by 0.26 percent, closing in at 40,238.81 with an index high – low range of 649.21
Volume traded with respect to the KSE – 100 index increased by 22.3 percent during the session after total volume clocked in at 90.9 million versus 74.3 million the day before.
Food & Personal Care Products, Oil & Gas Marketing companies, Fertilizers and Chemical industries were the worst performers today after collectively taking away 118.86 points from the index.
Sector wise top performers included Cement, Tobacco and Power Generation & Distribution that collectively contributed 66.73 points to the index. The gains in the Cement sector have been mostly marginal despite a 9.25% YoY growth in sales volume for the month of June 2018 released by All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) today.
In KSE – 100 index, 38 companies ended the day in positive while 48 were down at the day end.
KSE – All share Index closed in at 29,495.26 points, down by 0.02 percent. It moved in the range of 400.11 points.
KSE All Share Index’s sector turnover was led by Power Generation & Distribution (28.739 million) followed by Cement sector (16.294 million), Commercial Banks (12.995 million) and Chemical (11.989 million).
KSE – All Share Index Volume was at 140.7 million shares while the value of shares traded for all-shares index reached PKR 4.958 billion. K-Electric emerged as the volume leader today as NEPRA notified Multi-Year Tariff of Rs 12.8172, higher than the prior rate determined in October 2017 of Rs 12.7706.
In KSE – All Share index, 132 companies closed in the positive whereas like yesterday, 141 companies were down at the day end.
