KSE-100 crosses 40,000 mark as anticipation of Finance Budget further lifts the index

January 23, 2019 (MLN): The KSE 100 index continues to climb higher on the back of finance budget due to be announced today. The bourse has finally crossed the 40,000 mark by gaining 242 points during the early hours of the session, and is trading at 40,140 points as of now. The index was last seen beyond the 40,000 border on November 30, 2018.

The news regarding Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates offering Pakistan over $30 Billion in loans and investments, as per a report by Wall Street Journal, also constitutes for the positive sentiments currently prevailing in the market.

Commercial banks and E&P companies have so far emerged as the top gainers, whereas scrips of HBL (+1.7%), BAHL (+1.6%), HUBC (+0.84%) and LUCK (+0.81%) have gained the most points hitherto.

Up till now, the index has touched an intraday high of 40,198 points and an intraday low of 39,902 points.

The broader KSE All Share index has also gained 137 points so far, and is currently trading at 29,382 points. An intraday high of 29,409 points intraday low of 29,238 points has been recorded.
