June 9, 2021 (MLN): The new Karachi-Lahore RLNG pipeline project is critical to our energy supply ecosystem, Tabish Gauhar, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Power and Petroleum via his official Twitter handle said.

In his tweet, he said, “A recently signed Protocol to the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with Russia is a step forward.”

For the unversed, Pakistan and the Russian Federation recently signed the amended Inter Governmental Agreement (IGA) for North South Gas Pipeline (NSGPP) of 1,122 kilometers from Port Qasim (Karachi) to Kasur (Punjab) that will increase the capacity of the country to transport the imported gas from the port city to load center of Punjab.

Our local companies (SNGPL, SSGC, PAPCO) are also working on a complementary/alternative proposal to expedite construction and lower total project cost, he added.
