IRSA releases 18,600 cusecs water

January 7, 2019: Indus River System Authority (IRSA) Monday released 18,600 cusecs water from various rim stations with inflow of 31,400 cusecs.

According to the data released by IRSA, water level in the Indus River at Tarbela Dam was 1,426.34 feet, which was 40.34 feet higher than its dead level of 1,386 feet. Water inflow in the dam was recorded as 14,200 cusecs and outflow as 2,500 cusecs.              

The water level in the Jhelum River at Mangla Dam was 1,110.20 feet, which was 70.20 feet higher than its dead level of 1,040 feet whereas the inflow and outflow of water was recorded as 6,100 cusecs and 5,000 cusecs respectively.

The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa and Sukkur was recorded as 14,600 cusecs, 11,000 cusecs and zero cusecs respectively.

Similarly from the Kabul River, 4,800 cusecs of water was released at Nowshera and 6,300 cusecs from the Chenab River at Marala.

The total water storage capacity stood at 1.327 million acre feet.
